This app is effective. I love the quiz part and that you can add your own cards. Even tho it is lacking the kana for "do" or "ji" or others like "ば" and "ぽ" I can add them if I wanna study them.

I've been searching for an app to learn Japanese for quite sometime now.. I came across this and it's easy,fun and interactive. Unlike learning from a book, it features a voice that sounds each letter out making it easy to learn the pronunciation.
Needs Improvement...

It would be helpful if the charts were larger, or at least expandable. They are very hard to read when they are all on the same screen. Also, in the quiz it would be helpful if after you clicked the right one the correct pronunciation would play, or that the correct answer would stay up a bit longer. Don't waste your money on this app..
Better Than Anything...

I've tried several Japanese flashcard programs and this takes the cake hands down. You get BOTH hiragana and katagana in one for a buck!!!
You also get the option of hearing what the syllabaries sound like, something some other programs omit.
Lastly the quiz is awesome because it helps me to ramp my reading speed very quickly. The ability to add your own cards is another nice touch on an already great app.
Look no further this is the app to get.

What I liked best is the ability to add new cards. As I learn more kanji, I can input them into this app and my list will grow with me.
It's a good looking app. Easy one the eyes.
I just wish it included the really rare hiragana and katakana (ゐ・ヰ or ゑ・ヱ) in the chart, as I often forget which is which from lack of use, but they do come up.
